Q:   Does everyone who fills out a registration form automatically become a candidate?

A:   Yes, as long as they meet the requirements:

                    - Must be at least 16, but not 21 by 8/14/2023.

                    - Jr. Candidates must be at least 8 but not 12 by 8/14/2023.

                    - Must reside or work in New Brighton or attend or have graduated from the Mounds View/St. Anthony school districts or another private school within the district boundaries.  For more information, please visit our candidate page.

 

Q:   Do you have to provide your own sponsor?

A:    No, we will provide a sponsor for you.  However, if you have a business or organization who wants to       sponsor you, we would welcome them.

 

Q:   What are the Judges looking for?

A:    Judging is based on a well-groomed appearance, poise, communication skills, community and school     involvement and a friendly personality.  Ambassadors will be spirited, outgoing young men and women of good character.

 

Q:   Does this program have a talent or swimsuit competition?

A:    No, the judges will see you in an interview outfit, a formal dress, and clothes that you wear at different New   Brighton Stockyard Days events.

 

Q:   Will I qualify if I miss a scheduled candidate event?

A:    Yes, we do make exceptions for missed appearances as long as we know in advance.  But note that you will miss valuable experiences that could alter the judging outcome.

 

Q:   If I am selected as a New Brighton Ambassador, what is the time commitment?

A:    You will reign as a New Brighton Ambassador for one year, but most of the appearances are parades and coronations during the summer months. 

 

Q:   Can I still be chosen as an Ambassador if I am going away to school?

A:    Yes, with most of the appearances being during the summer months, we can work around college schedules and locations.

 

Q:   What awards and compensation would the New Brighton Ambassadors receive?

A:   At the end of their reign, the Ambassadors will receive an

                   - Educational Award                         

                   - In Addition:  Crown and Sash             

                                          ~ Wardrobes   

                                          ~ Trophies                         

                                          ~ Other Gifts  

                                               

Q:   How will my family be involved should I become a New Brighton Ambassador?

A:    Your parents are definitely encouraged to be involved with your transportation and chaperoning needs, as well as driving the New Brighton float in the parades you attend.

 

Q:   What will I gain by entering the New Brighton Ambassador Program?

A:    A chance to make new friendships, gain new experiences, develop career opportunities, and have a fun time!
